When I started with black and white photography, I mainly portrayed places of the postwar and brutalist Munich. I soon realized that — especially in architecture photography — black and white is the first layer of the interpretation of a subject. The “sound” and essence of a place or space often emerges through this kind of reduction, bringing forward patterns, form and materials.
